Position Purpose:

The Set Grip position is integral to the efficiency of any photography and videography studio. This hybrid role is responsible for working primarily with 2 groups: the Interior Design & Art Direction team and the Photography team. Responsibilities in assisting the Interior Design team can include flooring, furniture, lighting, window treatment, and accessory installation. When working with the Photography team, a Set Grip requires basic carpentry, electrical, and mechanical skills, to set up sets, photo and lighting equipment safely, both in studio sets and on location.

Collaboration is critical, as this role works across several departments, while other key qualifications include physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably within a deadline-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • 10% – Collaboration – Collaborate with business partners to define strategy and objectives using creative thinking to self-solve problems and recommendations that elevate final deliverables.
  • 10% – Customer Focus – Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • 10% – Drive Results – Drive excellence, best practices, and consistent execution of project work; improve quality by studying, evaluating, and improving methods used.
  • 60% – Production Management – Ensure work is consistent with brand standards. Ensure the smooth running of workflow and adherence to correct process, while keeping all teams informed and up-to-date and ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • 10% – Quality Assurance – Provide quality assurance of deliverables, ensuring work aligns with brand standards and platform guidelines.

  • This Position typically reports to the Manager, Creative Production

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of work experience is preferred, preferably in a commercial photography studio

  • Physical stamina

  • Good organizational skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Highly collaborative, open, and transparent

  • Patience and calmness under pressure, with the ability to excel and thrive in a high-volume environment

  • Proactive problem-solving, both technically and creatively

  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocol

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
