Bureau Detroit seeks an enthusiastic Junior Video Editor to join our growing production team. This role is ideal for recent graduates or entry-level individuals passionate about video editing and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will work closely with Senior Video Editors and Producers, handling multiple projects and playing a pivotal role in post-production processes. This will start as a part-time contract position, expecting to evolve into a full-time salaried role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
- Collaborate with the production team to grasp needs and specifications.
- Review shooting scripts and raw material to create a shot decision list.
- Trim footage segments and compile the sequence of the film.
- Add music, dialogues, graphics, and effects to videos.
- Create rough and final cuts, ensuring logical sequencing and smooth running.
- Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production.
- Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven work experience as a Video Editor or relevant experience (e.g., freelance video editing, personal/home video projects).
- Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g., Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Final Cut).
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing.
- Creative mind and storytelling skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- A bachelor’s degree in film studies, cinematography, or a related field is a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with non-linear editing.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Ability to understand client goals and vision.
- Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to industry trends.
Work Environment: This position may require working long or irregular hours to meet deadlines, with a typical schedule of around 25-30 hours per week. The role involves a significant amount of sitting and working at a computer.
