The Video Production Assistant position supports the Communications Manager and Video Production Coordinator in using photography, videography and other multimedia avenues to showcase and increase awareness of District goals, initiatives, accomplishments, special events, and other newsworthy items – including, but not limited to board meetings, special programs, classroom sessions, student achievement, media events and athletic events. This position is responsible for working on a full range of projects including overview videos, support videos, social media content, commercials, and more. This position is responsible for supporting the efforts of the Student Media Video Team to produce regular content. You will be assisting and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to turn ideas and concepts into high-quality videos and photos.

Essential Functions

  • Shoots and edits videos as assigned by the communications team and in support of the Student Media Team.
  • In support of the Student Media Team, mentors, works alongside of, and trains City Schools students in media production.
  • Reviews content produced by the Student Media Team to make sure it is high quality and meets the needs of the district.
  • Covers district and school events; transports and set up equipment, record, and break down.
  • Set up district television studio for shoots, including teleprompter, mics, cameras, set pieces, and lights.
  • Keeps organized files, footage, and records for every project.
  • Ensures equipment is stored, operational, and charged when needed.
  • Uploads new videos to Vimeo, social media, and Education Channel 77.
  • Serves as an integral member of the City Schools communications team and contributes to ongoing work of the communications unit.
  • Performs all aspects of video production including writing scripts, shot lists, shooting video, recording audio, editing, animations, motion graphics, coloring, exporting, and compressing.
  • Leads video production recordings and editing of classes, lectures, interviews, and events.
  • Exports and encodes video for delivery in the appropriate formats.
  • Provides creative solutions and support on all video and media requests.
  • Actively seeks for clarifying information about projects after specific jobs are assigned.
  • Accepts and applies feedback/revisions provided by content and department project requester until deliverable are satisfactory for all stakeholders.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follow federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Maximum Salary 77371.00

Minimum Salary 62380.00

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Three to five years’ experience in related field.
  • Ability to produce quality work with high efficiency.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects forward at a time.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse community, district staff members, and the public.
  • Ability to operate professional video cameras and audio recording equipment.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Professional and Google suite, and video and audio editing software such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe CC Suite.
  • Competence in maintaining organized files and precise records of projects.
  • Manage timelines and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral language skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with diverse audience.
  • Demonstrates excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
