Position Description

The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Film Production beginning August 22, 2024. This full time position requires an MFA, or other terminal degree, at the time of hire. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty and staff in the support of a film production program at a Research I University; teaching undergraduate film production courses within our curriculum at both the lower and upper division; and performing service appropriate to the position including recruitment and participation in shared governance. Additional responsibilities will include mentoring students in the program both academically as well as with career preparation. The department currently enrolls 120 majors with 20 full time faculty and offers a BA in Theatre Arts and BFA in Theatre Arts emphases in Acting for Stage & Screen, Design & Theatre Production, and Film Production. The BFA in Film Production is a 4-year intensive program which trains students in all aspects of film from development through post production. The University of Mississippi, which has been recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education for eleven consecutive years as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, is located in Oxford, MS, ranked as one of the “Top 10 Best College Towns.”
