ARTI is recruiting for a Photographer / Videographer in support of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense. It manages and directs basic and applied research developing cutting edge technologies for DoD in support of our national security where risk and payoff are both very high and where success may provide dramatic advances for traditional military roles and missions.

Will provide digital photography support, video services, and photographic and video production/editing for official agency / DOD meetings, events and training exercises. The audience will include high ranking government and military officials and dignitaries.

Will also provide photography support for promotion and official photos, awards ceremonies, passports and conference center events.

Must be proficient in capturing action shots and provide a quick respond to the situation in the areas of lighting, composition, subject matter in motion.

Position will require travel throughout the U.S. and overseas.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*Photography and Multimedia Support*

* Responsible for all head shots, room lighting etc. for events and other canned pictures.

* Integrate photos and videos into other print, digital, multi-media and web based products.

*Other Graphic Support Coverage*

* Uses scanning technology and equipment to electronically capture and store text or graphic images.

* Captures data in electronic files, manipulates or converts data to different file formats, and organizes files for reference.

* Accomplishes designs, including visual themes, user interface, navigational architecture, page layout, iconography and typography

* Creates compact disk (CDs) of files and structures provided by customers using varies creation software.

* Assists in graphic design / desktop publishing by combining text and graphics to communicate effective messages in the design of logos, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, view graphs, charts, graphs, ads and other types of visual communication.

* Accomplishes graphics/desktop publishing basic page composition, design and specific elements like white space, grids, lines, shapes, mass, texture, color, form space, intensity and hue.

* Performs activities for the interactive structure and visual design of intranet web sites.

* Converts text and graphics to an Internet-ready format like Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

* Ensures the accuracy of intranet web sites content and daily maintenance.

* Ensures consistency of design throughout the site and produces/incorporates final artwork onto the site.

*Performs other related duties as assigned*

Requirements

* Associates degree or 5 years specialized photography / videography experience.

* Possess a good technical understanding of photography.

* Must have the ability to analyze and decide how to compose a subject; use various photographic/video techniques and equipment; enhance the subjects appearance with natural or artificial light; use photo enhancing software.

* Must have proficiency in lighting techniques, photo editing and processing and the various equipment such as lenses, flashes, tripods and other accessories.

* Website or portfolio required.

* Graphic design/desktop publishing experience desired with one of the following software applications **required or strongly desired** Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Acrobat Professional (Reader, PDF Maker), Quark Xpress, Adobe In-Design, Macromedia Dream Weaver, Fireworks, Flash and Director.

* A minimum knowledge of local, Military Services, DoD, OSD, and other Government form and experience with electronic form design and filler software (Adobe Designer & Manager, or Form Flow) and design techniques desired.

* Knowledge of DoD, OSD, GPO and other editorial style guidelines is desired.

* Must be reliable, flexible, mature, and possess the ability to interact with all levels of personnel, senior military officers, and departments within DARPA and work independently and in a team environment.

* Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and handle pressure situations is a must.

* Travel will be required.

**Mandatory Requirement:** Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility for access to classified information, **Secret clearance level**.
