Job Details Job Location Washington Headquarters – Washington, DC Remote Type Hybrid Description The VOA Director’s office is seeking a creative Producer/Video Editor (“Preditor”) with a knowledge of news, producing, and polished video editing to develop, produce, and package short-form video content for internal and external distribution. Work will be assigned on an ad hoc basis at an hourly rate of $50.39. Projects will typically require short (three to five days) turnaround time but can be scheduled at the Preditor’s convenience. The Preditor will: •Produce and edit original and engaging editorial pieces, promos, and short form content across all media, according to a timeline as assigned •Oversee and individually complete projects from conceptualization through the various stages of execution, to include: Research/ Writing/ Storyboarding/Producing/ Post and Voiceover direction •Research, source, and obtain raw materials; screen and select content; edit recorded material; and meet content requirements & delivery deadlines as required. •Make sure projects meet predetermined technical specs and deliverable needs, including adherence to VOA Best Practices •Pitch ideas to the team and stakeholders. Discuss and listen to feedback constructively and act on it •Offer a range of creative routes, where appropriate, as part of the creative development process •Engage as an enthusiastic team member, proactively sharing ideas and best practices •Be creatively ambitious and willing to take risks Basic Qualifications: •Experience in a similar role within a television broadcast, news station, network or creative agency environment •Minimum 2 years of video editing experience with significant editing skill •Ability to self-operate at high level Eligibility Requirements: •Willingness to work overtime and/or non-standard hours with short notice •Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C. •Must have work authorization to work in the United States Desirable Characteristics: •A passion for television in general and contemporary video storytelling •Strong knowledge and understanding of post-production, editing and audio design techniques •Creative thinker with the skills and imagination to produce eye-catching promotions, shorts and interstitials •A clear understanding of current trends in the industry, social media, OTT, etc. •Knowledge of worldwide news events •Ability to write strong and distinctive copy •The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines within a prescribed budget •Ability to speak a language in addition to English •Experience with Media Asset Management Systems such as Dalet Ad hoc positions do not have guaranteed assigned hours.
