Position Title Social Media Photographer and Videographer Benefits and Community https://www.bsu.edu/about/administrativeoffices/humanresources/jobs/benefits-and-community/professional-staff Position Function Report to and assist the Universitys Social Media Manager, while working in concert with the Universitys Admission Social Media Strategist, to create and provide platform-specific visuals for Facebook, Linkedln, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. Create digital media from preproduction through post-production using techniques applied through video cameras, still cameras, audio, lighting, editing, graphics, animation, and script-writing that support the goals, objectives, and brand of Ball State University and Ball State University Admissions. Minimum Education Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Minimum Experience Two years of experience in social media production and photography; experience with capturing video, audio, photography; video editing experience using Adobe Premiere, and photo editing experience using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Proficiency in Facebook, Linkedln, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok as well as photo and video production and editing on a smart phone. Minimum Other Understanding of video and photo cameras and camera control, shutter speeds, apertures, lens types, filters and effects; understanding of the principles involved in recording good audio in different conditions, and understanding the principles of 3-point lighting, white balancing, color temperatures and light maintenance; ability to convey ideas through storyboarding; ability to edit tight turnaround times. Digital storytelling and presenting skills. Preferred Education Preferred Experience Proven experience within a higher education admission setting specifically marketing to prospective students; proficiency in data-driven decision making; demonstrable experience in social media listening and familiarity with related social software tools; working knowledge of WordPress, SproutSocial, Google Analytics, Rival IQ; understands and researches trends in digital marketing. The digital team in the division of Marketing and Communications at Ball State University is responsible for oversite of bsu.edu and related sites, digital marketing efforts including emails, social media by the Universitys primary branded accounts, and more. Members of the digital team are afforded the digital tools and platforms that ensure Ball States marketing efforts remains competitive and effective in an ever-changing digital landscape. Members of the digital team work collaboratively with other members of the Marketing and Communications division as well as with many partners around campus. Duties & Responsibilities Ranking 1 Job Duty Consult with Social Media Manager, Admissions Social Media Strategist and Chief Creative Officer to ensure visual needs, especially those related to social media and promotion of Admissions and Orientation. Ranking 2 Job Duty Develop engaging digital content that tells the Ball State story in ways that build and deepen positive relationships across constituencies, and strengthen the relationship with prospective students. Ranking 3 Job Duty Consult with and advise Enrollment, Planning and Management to create storyboards, write scripts, and set production schedules in order to create accurate and informative digital content for on-campus presentation and for use online via social media. This includes writing narration, monologue, or dialogue driven scripts. Ranking 4 Job Duty Direct, capture, and edit digital content, interviews, event coverage, environmental opportunities, and studio production. Ranking 5 Job Duty Work with Social Media Manager, Chief Digital Marketing and Communications Officer, and the Director of Communication Strategy and Insights in undergraduate admissions to brainstorm, develop, and maintain strategic digital content for the brand and advancement of Enrollment, Planning and Management mission. Ranking 6 Job Duty In tandem with Marketing and Communications Account Strategists, develop and maintain relationships with clients across campus and in the community in order to ensure a regular flow of up-to-date digital content for the website, social media, and other promotional use. Ranking 7 Job Duty Maintain expert knowledge of digital content developments and all aspects of video production, including directing and cinematography, clean audio and lighting, as well as post-production editing techniques and software for audio sweetening, color grading, photography, and other platforms for delivery. Ranking 8 Job Duty Uphold the demands of a deadline-based editorial team, and be able to follow and create briefs and standards, and establish how to get the best performances out of different presenters and clients. Ranking 9 Job Duty Stay abreast of the latest video and photo equipment and techniques, and serve as a consultant, liaison, producer, and content creator for campus colleagues for compelling video, photography, and graphics. Ranking 10 Job Duty Stay abreast and deploy the latest trends in social media on all platforms for Ball States primary branded accounts and for the Universitys Admissions accounts. Ranking 11 Job Duty Advise and collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues, as well as other clients, on digital content projects and assignments that meet their goals and needs. Ranking 12 Job Duty Research viral trends on social media and work to incorporate Ball State University on each social media platform. Ranking 13 Job Duty Collaborate with colleagues and professional staff in Enrollment, Planning and Management. Ranking 14 Job Duty Perform other related duties as assigned.
