Our EnviroIssues team is passionate about supporting communities in having a voice and opportunity to influence the issues impacting their everyday life. As a consulting firm, we work with a wide variety of clients, mainly in the public sector, on community engagement and outreach to bring people’s voices into a variety of projects – whether that’s addressing wastewater discharge into Puget Sound, large infrastructure projects in Seattle, replacing a bridge in Portland, or helping communities plan how they grow. While our largest area of work is transportation and transit, we also work in water utilities, land use, natural resources, climate, cleanup, energy, and other sectors that impact people in our communities. Our design team Our design team is a small group of dynamic humans who are passionate about creating culturally responsive, accessible, and beautifully designed pieces with and for the communities we serve. The role We’re seeking someone who brings years of experience working with multi-media design, graphic accessibility, and videography. In this role, we need someone focused on partnership, who will work alongside our Creative Director with a focus on offering mentorship and coaching to others on the team while also being interested in collective learning and growth. In the role, you’ll work with various project teams and clients offering you design expertise and working on a variety of print materials such as fact sheets, to online website, videos, animation, maps, and various visual engagement elements. We’re seeking someone who is committed to antiracism and can bring an equity lens to their design work and work in alongside our team to continually improve equity in our work. We want to welcome someone who is comfortable giving and receiving feedback and who understand their work/life boundaries and respects and supports our team achieving their own goals and needs for health and well-being. Desired qualifications Three to five years’ experience as a lead designer on projects who has managed the full design process from creative strategy through implementation including development of a creative brief and delegating work to other creative team members Experience facilitating creative brief development and working in partnership with non-graphic designers to define a creative approach. This includes problem solving with our project teams to receive relevant information that allows the Design team to engage and offer strategies throughout a project effort. Two to three years’ experience producing videos including pre-production, production, and postproduction skills (storyboarding, filming, and editing) A deep knowledge of design principles and experience using design software including InDesign, Illustrator, PSD, AfterEffects, PremierePro, XD, Figma, and the Adobe Creative Cloud Understanding and experience in the following mediums: Branding and visual identity development Video production and video animation Virtual reality 3D modeling Drone photography and video capture Ability to review technical documents, design plans, and maps and translate them into more accessible community-orientation graphic elements Demonstrate ability to collaborate every day and bring a desire to build strong relationships with our design team and broader EI community A desire to work as part of a team that sees redundancy as an important contribution and is willing to pitch in in support of other teammates Commitment and experience applying equity into graphic design practices and willingness to offer mentorship and coaching with our design team Familiarity and experience applying accessibility practices in graphic design and understands Federal 508 compliance guidelines and practices Exhibit cultural responsiveness and humility Commitment to seeking and offering direct feedback with a growth mindset Ability to focus and demonstrate attention to detail Conditions of employment A valid driver’s license or government issued ID Card Ability to travel to sites/events in the Puget Sound region, some may occur outside of regular business hours Occasional weekend and evening work to meet client needs
