Description Summary/bjective: The Videographer & Editor supports the production of digital content in support of Colonial Williamsburgs strategic plan and master interpretive plan extending the Foundations mission beyond onsite visitors. The Videographer & Editor displays leadership in all technical and artistic aspects of videography and video editing for Colonial Williamsburgs educational divisions; helps oversee production facilities and equipment maintenance; ensures quality control and adherence to industry standards; and trains colleagues in technical and artistic aspects of video production work. Essential Functions: 1. Collaborates with colleagues across Colonial Williamsburg to develop a strong and diverse editorial calendar. 2. Ensures the Innovations Studios team shoots high-quality video for projects and oversees technical and artistic aspects of videography. 3. Edits high-quality digital video productions using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent including visual effects color correction motion graphics sound editing music selection and editing and sound effects. 4. Variously serves as technical director lighting designer sound designer sound recordist or still photographer on projects as necessary. 5. Trains and advises CWIS colleagues on technical and artistic aspects of video production including camera operation shot composition lighting sound recording & editing non-linear editing motion graphics visual effects and equipment/technology solutions. 6. Manages digital video post-production workflow by: a. Establishing following and supporting colleagues in the use of a digital video post-production workflow. b. Assuring raw video files are secured uploaded and converted to a usable state for shared projects (creating proxies etc.). c. Advising and supporting colleagues during the video and audio editing process. d. Providing quality control and final edit for video ensuring consistent use of quality control guidelines which may include file formats video resolution file naming conventions and metadata requirements. e. Routing video to appropriate location for shared use. f. Archiving raw video final video and project files according to established file naming conventions and metadata requirements. g. Communicating about the status and location of projects in the workflow. 7. Assists Executive Producer in overseeing production studio and storage facilities. 8. Works with other Videographers/Editors to oversee equipment purchasing and maintenance. 9. Assists in the creation and updating of procedures guidelines and best practices for digital video production and quality control. Required and Preferred Education and Experience: Required: Two or more years of experience in videography. Two or more years of experience in video editing. Two or more years of experience working in an environment requiring basic office skills software and professional communication. A sample reel of multiple varied examples of broadcast-quality video demonstrating videography and video editing skill and experience. Cover Letter. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in communications film/video or audio production or equivalent experience. Experience in producing educational video (e.g. public television documentary filmmaking video content for a museum science center historic site school university curriculum company or similar). Experience training others on technical and/or artistic processes. Still photography skills. Experience recording field audio. Qualifications: Excellent video production skills including experience in camera operation audio production video and audio editing motion graphics special effects lighting and general digital media production skills to be demonstrated by a reel of sample material. Experience in the direct operation of cameras lights microphones mixers transmitters and receivers video and audio editing software (with a preference for experience in Adobe Creative Cloud video graphic and audio applications). Demonstrated ability to organize physical and digital resources and assets (with a preference for experience using Microsoft products for general office applications file storage and workflow management). Demonstrated ability to teach/train others and to communicate feedback constructively. Demonstrated professional written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently as part of a team or under specific direction. Ability to notice and correct small details and flaws in video audio and graphics (e.g. misspellings picture focus & exposure audio intrusions alignment of graphic elements etc.). Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds (such as production materials equipment and supplies) Source: Hospitality nline
