Position Summary: The Health Commissioner’s Office of Communications is seeking a Graphic Design/ Videographer. The successful candidate will be the primary lead on developing and maintaining the Health Department’s visual standards and products. They will be charged with developing and maintaining a brand/visual style guide for the Health Department. Their day-to-day activities will include creating, editing and formatting simple graphic design elements in documents and products, and creating, editing, organizing, and managing photographic and videographic products to support Health Department activities and products. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated capacity in simple graphic design, photography, and videography. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with the city’s culture and be able to present a portfolio comprised of elements that reflect the diverse community within which we work. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the development and maintenance of visual branding and standards for the Health Department. Capture or create photographs that show the work of the Health Department for use in documents, presentations, physical space, and social media. Create or edit and review documents so that they adhere to the Health Department’s visual branding and standards. Capture or create videos that show the work of the Health Department for use in documents, presentations, and short- and long-form social media. Support Health Department staff working to develop photographic and videographic projects. Develop, organize, and maintain a library of Health Department photographs and videos to act as an historical and contemporary archive of Health Department work. Participate in meetings throughout the Health Department to learn about their work and be willing to propose opportunities to support that work. Support Health Department news media staff in recording and organizing recordings of press conferences and other news media products. Support Health Department social media staff in conceiving of, developing, and creating photographs and videos for use by Health Department social media account. Perform other duties as needed. Ability to manage multiple and frequently conflicting priorities. Familiarity with public health issues and topics preferred. Familiarity with issues of diversity and equity preferred. Familiarity with Canva.com preferred. Familiarity with management of a YouTube channel. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree required (photography or graphic design degree is NOT required). Fully remote, though some events will need to be covered in person, so access to a car or ability to navigate the city is needed.
