POSITION SUMMARY: This is an entry-level position. The Assistant Editor’s role is to support the post-production team with transcoding and organizing footage, logging, creating selects, good to intermediate level color grading, and completing intermediate level projects. They will need a good understanding of the post-production workflow and experience in a high-volume video post-production environment. This position works directly on both marketing and advertising aspects of the business, requires a high degree of independent judgment, and operates without any direct supervision on matters of significance to business operations ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Editing and color grading at entry to intermediate level Editing of basic to entry to intermediate level projects Working with scripts and production direction in independent fashion without direct supervision on projects. Working with sensitive corporate assets or concepts while maintaining confidentiality Bringing in, organizing, and transcoding footage into our Avid Interplay systems Creating selects timelines of RAW footage Occasional AVID Interplay/NEXIS system maintenance Other duties as assigned EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should have college or trade-school experience in production or similar field or equivalent experience in video productions industry. Intermediate skills using Avid Media Composer software and Davinci Resolve KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: Able to learn AVID ISIS media array and Interplay engine Good working knowledge using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects Good working knowledge of computers in WIN and MAC OS Good working knowledge of various codecs, containers, and file types used in today’s media environment An understanding of the aesthetics of story-telling with video including basic to intermediate techniques in the general principals of video editing Understanding of fishing and hunting is a plus Good organizational skills; able to keep multiple projects balanced at any one time Possess a strong work ethic and have an outgoing personality with ability to interact within group of creative individuals in a dynamic and constantly changing environment, and including a willingness to react with short notice to changes in daily routine Excellent communication skills – able to understand direction and communicate concerns in working with overall production schedule Willingness to invest time in further training and education to stay current with media standards TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 5% – seldom PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly performs computer work and sits. Occasionally walks and stands. Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT : Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives.
