We run one of the largest and fastest growing self-improvement channels on YouTube. Our top videos from the past year have between 2.5 million and 6.7 million views. Purpose of this role Behind every great creator is a great editor. The Video Editor is the one crafting the story that ends up reaching the hearts and minds of millions of people. The hero behind the scenes who makes everything possible. Our Video Editor will work closely with our Founder, Leon Hendrix, to build impactful, engaging content to share fresh perspectives and help improve the lives of our viewers. Responsibilities Craft storylines – In post-production, going through the footage, crafting the storyline, adding music, all the way to determining the pacing & final edits. Optimize audience retention – achieve the highest possible audience retention on YouTube. Optimize the hook, intro, and set up of the story, cut out the fluff, clarifying the viewer’s understanding, opening loops in the viewer’s mind and incentives to keep watching, and increase the stakes of the story Creative direction – sharing feedback with Leon to optimize how the story is told. This amount of creative freedom is likely to build over time as this Video Editor grows within the team Brainstorm & plan video ideas – help Leon brainstorm and plan top-notch video ideas, titles & thumbnails, the storyline & message, what will happen in the videos, and what footage will be needed Bonus points if (not required) – this person can help by being the videographer as well, join for the adventures, and potentially be part of the story Requirements Note – It’s okay to be a beginner. We’re happy to train this person up as a beginner as long as this person has the passions and attitudes listed below. YouTube storytelling is a very specialized skill that is hard to learn and we know that. Open to learning and receiving feedback often A growth mindset that you can and will consistently improve with practice Passion for storytelling – passionate about movies, TV shows, and other mediums of storytelling Grew up watching YouTube and love it. On a personal journey of self-improvement Nice to haves Already learning about CTR, AVD & AVP Long-term we’d love to have this person relocate to Austin, Texas to work with Leon closely. Benefits Salary range $40,000 – $60,000 starting salary
