No Film School –

This article details the five-year journey of filmmakers Christopher Ninness, Eric Kimelton, and Scott Seibold in creating “Not Just A Goof,” a documentary about the 1995 Disney film “A Goofy Movie.” Initially aiming to explore the film’s cult following, their focus shifted after an in-depth interview with the original director, Kevin Lima, who provided personal insights and behind-the-scenes footage. The project faced challenges, including conducting interviews during the global pandemic and illustrating untold stories without existing footage. To overcome this, they collaborated with Venturia Animation Studios to produce original animations. The documentary is set to premiere on Disney+ on April 7, 2025, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of “A Goofy Movie.”
