Comedic Short Film June 5th: Need Actors – Volunteer

A group of friends on the last hurrah of a night-long bender find themselves in an abandoned building with a mysterious dead body. Together and in a panic, they must navigate this compromising situation before the police arrive.

This is an independent passion project by Abasi Ekpenyon. The story aims to highlight to complexities of navigating white spaces as people of colour.

Transport will be accommodated for, as well as food and other amenities. A copy of the project will be shared with everyone involved for their reels.

BREAKDOWNS

Esme (18 – 25, Female, Open Ethnicity) (Lead)

• Esme is an over-privileged character who tends to think only of herself to the detriment of her peers.
• This role will require a bit of memorization and endurance for long takes

Gemma (18 – 25, Female, Black) (Lead)

• Gemma is a compassionate and level headed thinker. She cares deeply about the well-being of her friends. A true character foil to Esme.
• This role will require a bit of memorization and endurance for long takes

Kwame (18 – 25, Male, Black) (Lead)

• Kwame is a comical yet timid character. He is passionate but lacks the confidence to take control of the situations he’s in. He has a generic masculine appearance with a slight build.
• This role will require a bit of memorization and endurance for long takes

Officer Casey (18 – 25, Any Gender, Open Ethnicity) (Supporting)

• Officer Casey is a by the books rookie who wants to make a name for herself as an officer. Casey still has a lot to learn when dealing with ambiguous situations

Corpse (30 – 60, Male, Open Ethnicity) (Supporting)

• The actor will play the body the friends find after trespassing into an abandoned building
• Non-speaking role, Prosthetic makeup
