Job Position(s): Aerial Camera Operator

First Base Solutions Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of J.D. Barnes Limited, provides custom mapping and land base data for the private and public sectors involved in planning, design and the management of land related activities. We are experts in utilizing aerial photography and sophisticated interpretative equipment in the production of topographic mapping, orthophoto mapping, flood plain mapping, utility base mapping and thematic mapping.

First Base Solutions Inc. is currently recruiting for an Aerial Camera Operator/Mapping Technologist for our aircraft. Due to Government and Health regulations and the nature of the work, only applications from fully vaccinated individuals against COVID-19 will be accepted.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for the operation of our large format Vexcel Digital Cameras while onboard our Cesena 414 aircraft and as required, our Cesena 182 aircraft

· Responsible for operating the Applanix POS Track GNSS-Aided Inertial Direct Georeferencing and the advanced Flight Management Systems

· Conducting image quality control in the field and office

· Responsible for file management and the transfer of image and supporting data between the aircraft and office

· Assisting with aerial photo flight planning, pre-mission planning for specific project requirements and weather monitoring

· Regular maintenance, transportation, troubleshooting (with guidance) and assisting with the installation of the camera equipment (55kg)

· Setting up and operating GNSS base stations, collection of ground control and file management

MAPPING RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Orthophoto quality control and processing

· Assisting with DTM assembly and colour balancing as well as fixes and edits to orthophotos

REQUIREMENTS:

· Valid G Driver’s License and Canadian Passport

· Immunizations are mandatory as required by the travel destination; this includes but is not limited to the COVID-19 vaccine

· Experience with Microsoft Excel, MicroStation, Photoshop and ArcMap for GIS applications

· Ability to work for extended periods in a moving aircraft

· Ability to travel and work offsite, out of province or out of country for extended periods of time

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently

· Background in mapping is preferred
