Hi,
We’re looking for actors to cast in our short film, Split.
It’s a film about three struggling students who undergo the troughs of the pandemic in various ways, through loss, sacrifices of interpersonal connection, and cyber-sickness. Each of them finds their own ways to cope with the situations at hand to seek meaning in this new world.
Characters we’re looking to cast for:
BEN (18-25)
Ben lives alone during the pandemic and struggles to cope with the extra burden of isolation that this brings. Since his family lives far away, he relies on his friends as his main connection, but they haven’t been able to hang out all together in some time. For the first time in a long time, Ben is looking forward to seeing his friends and celebrating Nav’s birthday all together.
ELISE’S FATHER (40-55)
Elise’s Father is working in a senior managing position at a large company that is taking a detrimental hit during the pandemic. He is forced to work from home while his team negotiates who to lay off and how to keep their company afloat. His high stress at his job doesn’t blend well with his low tolerance for noise around the house with his daughter, Elise.
ELISE’S MOTHER (40-55)
Elise’s Mother is working out of the house during the pandemic. She relies on her husband and daughter to take care of the house while she is gone each day. We only hear her voice one scene behind a door.
HOMEOWNER #1 (voiceover)
Simply a voice behind a door for one line. Can literally be anyone.
HOMEOWNER #2 (Off-camera)
Homeowner #2 answers the door expecting DoorDash, only to find Nav asking him for money. Homeowner #2 doesn’t care about Nav at all and would rather get him off his porch than treat him with any decency.
HOMEOWNER #3 (Off-camera)
Random Stranger #3 answers the door hesitantly but is still willing to hear out Nav’s proposal. Knowing someone who benefitted from the same foundation he represents, she chooses to donate to help those in need during a clearly tough time for all.
