Duck, Duck… Gone! is a student short film being produced in association with Vancouver Film School. We need 5 actors (1 lead, 4 supporting) to perform in our absurdist corporate thriller. It’s a weekend shoot on February 4th – February 5th, and lunch/lunch money will be provided to all actors on both days. Since this is a student production, we DO NOT have enough of a budget to provide monetary payment to actors. However, we will provide food, an IMDb credit, and once the film is completed we will send you your footage to use in demo reels. Prior experience is not a must, but it helps. We just want some eager performers to have a great time on our shoot. Below is the story and character information.

Synopsis:

An absurd corporate thriller about Jane, a secretary charged with investigating the office to find out who stole the boss’ prized rubber duck. She unsuccessfully interrogates her coworkers, slowly loses her sanity, and is subsequently fired. However, it is implied in the end that she might have been the culprit all along.

Character Bios:

[LEAD, female, 20s]
Jane is a hardworking secretary who is brought to her wit’s end after her boss sends her on a wild rubber duck chase. She prioritizes the duck hunt over her own well-being, her exhaustion and stress leading her to have hallucinations that bring her to a breaking point, all as a result of the burnout from working in this corporate environment.
————————————————————————————————-
[SUPPORTING, male, 20s]
Donald is an ambitious receptionist whose passion for the company makes him willing to do whatever it takes to move up in the office hierarchy. His discontent about the missing duck is rivaled only by the boss, and he makes sure to let Jane know about it.
————————————————————————————————-
[SUPPORTING, male, 30s]
Mr. Dodgers is the overly confident boss of Mallard Tech who is devastated by the loss of his prized rubber duck. He takes himself and his company very seriously and has no tolerance for incompetence or sabotage, to the disgruntlement of his employees.
————————————————————————————————-
[SUPPORTING, any gender, late 20s]
Daisy is an overworked employee just trying to squeeze in a meal in between all the work. They feel some resentments towards Jane for having what they perceive to be a better job but are eventually brought around to feel sympathy for someone in a similar plight to theirs.
————————————————————————————————-
[SUPPORTING, any gender, late 20s]
Dewey is a formerly loyal employee who was recently fired after requesting a well-deserved raise. After investing so much time and effort into this company, they’re feeling bitter and vindictive, and they’re not leaving without taking a piece of it with them.
