SYNOPSIS: Two old friends, newcomers to a life of crime, have to make hard decisions about what they must do with their hostage now that they have run out of time and options. Complicating matters is the fact that competing crews in their line of business are aware of their situation, putting their credibility as legitimate criminals on the line.

Fuelled by dreams of a more luxurious standard of living, they arrive at the point of no return. While “murder” is what they dare not say to each other, the sun rises, and the time they have left to decide diminishes rapidly.

NILES:

Niles is quietly obsessed with nice things and status. Murder is a line he doesn’t want to cross. He and his friend Frasier have been up all night trying to decide what to do about their hostage Jim. He’s extremely hungry and can’t even think until his stomach is full. His greatest fear is remembering the hostage’s dying moments for the rest of his life. He is unafraid to make the hostage suffer in death if it means they get away clean.

FRASIER:

Frasier is pragmatic and anxious about everything. His ambition for high status makes him talk a much bigger game than he’s willing to play. He and his best friend Niles got into the criminal underworld for the money and have arrived at their first speedbump: murder. He likes to think it’s nothing, but when confronted with the requisite steps in taking a life, he immediately becomes uneasy. He prioritizes killing Jim quickly, even if it ends up being messy. Niles’s methods are deeply upsetting to him.

JIM:

Jim’s youthful appearance lets him get away with a lot. He is old friends-slash-acquaintances with Frasier and Niles, whom he’s borrowed a lot of money from. Because he cannot pay, they’ve arranged for Jim’s wife to repay them in the form of a favour which goes awry off-screen. Everything in his life has more or less sorted itself out on its own, so this situation is deeply upsetting to him.
