The successful candidate will possess strong visual story-telling skills with attention to detail and the ability to operate camera, audio, and lighting gear for entertainment and lifestyle, live, live-to-tape and EFP productions. About the Role
You will be reporting to ET Canada’s Supervising Producer and be responsible for shooting news, features and specials utilizing creative camera skills to tell dynamic and visually exciting stories.
Responsibilities:
- Operating camera, audio, and lighting gear for entertainment, lifestyle and client productions as
- required
- Responding quickly and thoughtfully to direction from director and producer
- Ensuring sufficient coverage of shots for the scripts provided; setting up shots & executing camera moves; setting up and/or supervising the lighting to ensure subjects are lit appropriate to the creative vision; managing microphones, sound capture, anticipating surrounding noise and providing creative solutions with sound techniques.
- Ability to multi-task in a live and fluid environment, skilled in creative framing, following camera
- scripting and capturing un-foreseen action.
- Actively participate in brainstorming visual direction with production team & director; providing relevant visual references to the director and shot lists as required
- Determining equipment requirements and sourcing & prep of gear for the shoot; camera/audio/lighting tests as required
- Consulting with post-production team to ensure that production plan will cut together and technical aspects are considered.
- Finding solutions to technical or other practical problems.
- Being open and prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas and new equipment.
- Accountable for keeping to budgets when required.
About You
What We Need From You:
- A strong background in studio, EFP and ENG content gathering.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a network television camera person.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production equipment and technology, including but not limited to jib, studio cameras, ENG/EFP cameras, microphones, other audio equipment, gyro operation, handheld operation, lighting grids, electrical requirements for all equipment
- Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization within various departments and with clients.
- Exceptional knowledge of the production and post production process from conception to completion.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, bend, squat, frequent standing and moving.
M - Must be familiar with all social media platforms (ie TikTok, Instagram etc) and specific shooting specs for each platform.
- Experience with lighting, optics, and cinematography.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License and valid Passport and be eligible and willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed, sometimes on short notice.
- Exceptional editorial judgement with excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
- Full knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Excel, all computer skills.
