We’re looking for a CG Generalist to join our Vancouver studio on various exciting new projects. Our CG Generalists are expected to fill many roles including modeling, uv’ing, texturing, look dev and some basic lighting. The ideal candidate is able to look at any real world object or material, understand the properties involved such as sss or specular and then go make it in CG.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking an asset from modeling to look dev approved.
  • Modeling, uv’ing, texturing, shading and some basic lighting.
  • Displacement and Normal mapping.
  • Looking at an object or material and understanding how to achieve the best result.
  • Making sure your workflow follows the standards laid out by your Leads or Supervisors.
  • A checklist like mentality for things such as keeping history clean or freezing transforms.
  • Follow studio naming conventions and procedures to ensure consistency amongst team. members.
  • Ability and willingness to switch tasks on the fly.

Requirements:

  • Experience within a similar role within the TV, Feature Film or Games industry with a recent showreel to demonstrate your skills.
  • Strong Character and Environment Modeling
  • Strong working knowledge of Maya, Zbrush, Ztool and Substance Painter
  • A strong understanding of at least one texturing package such as Photoshop and Mari
  • Experience working with shaders in Arnold is preferred but an equivalent renderer also works, just as long as you understand how to construct shaders and achieve outstanding results.
  • Experience with Nuke, Unreal or Houdini is a bonus but not required.
  • Proven experience making photoreal assets.
  • A fundamental knowledge of modeling both organic and hard surfaces.
  • A basic understanding of lighting and rendering workflows.
  • A strong creative eye and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
  • The ability to take direction and willingness to address comments and make changes.
