We are “Monsters / Aliens / Robots / Zombies” (MARZ). We are a Technology & VFX studio based out of Toronto, ON, Canada, offering feature-film quality VFX on TV timelines. We launched in 2018, and have had the privilege of working on a wide range of projects such as WandaVision (Disney+), The Boys (Amazon Prime), Watchmen (HBO), The Walking Dead (AMC), What We Do In The Shadows (FX), The Umbrella Academy (Netflix), Invasion (Apple TV), and many more!
Who we need
We are looking to add a talented FX Artist to our dynamic, growing, and passionate FX team, and we are open for this person to work remotely. This is a contract role that reports directly to the FX Supervisor, and responsibilities will include:
- Designing, creating, and implementing high quality photo-real effects including Water, Fire, Smoke, Explosions, Clouds, Debris, Magical, etc.
- Designing, creating, and implementing efficient methods, tools, and workflows
- Understanding and working within the studio/show structure/pipeline
- Working with TDs and Pipeline Team to improve FX processes
- Reporting regularly to the FX Supervisor for creative approval and technical or administrative concerns
- Following the creative direction set forth by the production and communicated by the FX and VFX Supervisors
What you bring
We are looking for an intermediate/Senior level FX Artist with the following experience and skills:
- 5+ years of experience in Film/Television as an FX Artist
- Expert knowledge of, and proven ability to use, Houdini and Maya to develop high-quality photo-real dynamic effects
- Experience with rigid body dynamics and particle systems
- Ability to follow creative & technical briefs with regard to the production schedule and set milestones
- Ability to work with animation, lighting & compositing as necessary in order to meet FX animation objectives
- Excellent communication skills and technical knowledge
What happens next
After we receive your application, it will be reviewed by the Talent Acquisition team and the Hiring Manager. We will then invite successful candidates for a Technical Interview with the Hiring Manager and team (~60 mins). All interviews are conducted via Google Meet.
