Video Editor Position Overview

Samy’s Camera, a national provider of camera, video, and cine equipment to professionals and enthusiasts, seeks an exceptional individual for our video team, one with an entrepreneurial spirit, a pro who wants to grow professionally. We produce videos for the photographic and cine industry that engage viewers with ‘how to’ tutorials, inspirational and creative lifestyle stories, social media promotion clips, Skippable in-stream ads, and non-skippable in-stream ads.

The video editor (VE) manages the editing process and executes the workflow tasks for various Samy’s Produced video productions. Productions include but are not limited to First Look Equipment, Camera Lifestyle, Journey in Photography, Vendor Supported Training Productions and other scripts as determined by the Director of Production. In addition, the VE will provide ‘B’ camera services when requested and is often called upon to do light graphic artwork to support the promotion of the videos.

Position Responsibilities:

• Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
• Edit short, scripted YouTube videos that demonstrate the use of photographic equipment, long-form inspirational videos, actor supporter Google Video Commercials, Trailers and Corporate Training videos. Edits shall Include the input of music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
• The Editor will also assist the Director of Photography/Cinemaphotography with onsite ‘B’ Camera operations, post-production media management, data back-up, duplication and related duties.
• Coordinate with Director of Photography/Cinemaphotography and the Director of Productions for scripts, location management, contribute ideation from storyboards and treatment documents.

Position Requirements

• You must provide a link to relevant editing samples with your resume submission.
• 3-5 years of editing experience with Davinci Resolve and/or Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and related multimedia applications.
• Relevant experience with photography, videography, video script design, and field production support.
• Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, Film, Video, Visual Communications or equivalent recommended but not required.
• Basic understanding of remote conductivity to communicate from various locations using online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teamview.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform well and remain organized under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast and rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to complete work accurately in a time-sensitive environment.
• Ability to work occasional weekends and nonstandard hours.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Have an online portfolio of completed projects for interview demonstration.
