Job Position(s): VFX Artist
Project Type: Film
Compensation: Paid
Union Status: Non-Union

Plot: A man wakes in an empty suburban house with no memory and blood smeared on his arm. As he frantically washes off the blood, he discovers that it is not his. He finds sticky notes around the house that read: “Don’t stay in this room.” “Don’t go outside.” “Don’t go downstairs.” Confused, he tries to follow the cryptic messages, ultimately discovering two things. Memories of a mother and daughter that he is somehow connected with, and also a demonic presence living in this suburban house. As he gets closer to solving the mystery of why he is there, the demon grows stronger, testing his will to survive.

The VFX work needed in the film is a mix of a few things. Cleanup Paints, such as production lights, brand labels, a few split screen composites, a few roto composites, and some lightweight CGI/Composites of water that is possessed by our demon. There are approximately 35 shots. Two main VFX scenes: One involving the main character’s eyes being “cleansed” from the demon, and one with black oily water moving across the floor towards our main character. We are going for a very realistic and grounded look. Nothing stylized.

See the VFX tracking sheet below. We are hoping for one artist who can handle all the work, but if there is only a portion of the VFX work that you specialize in doing, then please note that in your submission. We realize we may need to split up the work based on the various types of VFX needed for this project.

Payment structure: The film has been structured so that everyone working on it is an equity holder to receive a percentage of the profit of the film. This is for 2 reasons. It keeps the cost of the film down, which makes it easier to turn a larger profit at distribution (thereby everyone making more money with their equity), and it ensures that everyone who works on the film believes in the project and puts their best foot forward so we can all have the best possible product. There is interest from several people in the distribution world to see the film once it’s completed. This is also a great opportunity to get a feature film credit for VFX.

Please submit with your resume, sample reel, and any remarks about why you feel you’d be the right fit for this position. I look forward to hearing from all of you!
