Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a Visual Effects Editor to join our team. This is a full time, 1-year contract position.

Summary of Position

The Visual FX Editor

The VFX Editor is responsible for managing, incorporating and updating edits of VFX sequences across several projects. This position will export edits for client delivery and work closely with VFX Supervisors on technical and aesthetic concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update any client editorial changes with the latest cut information for the VFX team
  • Maintain editorial info in Shotgun
  • Ensure that published shots conform to the current edit and perform basic QC checks
  • Respond to all editorial requests, including client approvals, to support the production team
  • Work closely with internal production, artists and other support departments providing advice, reference, information and files when needed
  • Participate in the delivery process by creating in-context cuts for the client and making sure the material sent matches the client specifications
  • Liaise with internal I/O department when appropriate
  • Work with VFX Supervisors on creating sequence mock-ups for client reviews
  • Assist in editing in-house reels including annual company reels, showreels, technical breakdowns, and awards reels

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of editing software such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and/or Final Cut Pro X
  • Experience with assistant editing
  • 3 – 4 years of experience working in VFX editorial
  • Working knowledge of Shotgun
  • Strong technical background and an expert understanding of all editorial tools
  • Working knowledge of film and digital formats, files, frame rates, resolutions, colour space and codecs
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Dynamic and collaborative work ethic
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, manage priorities and problem solve

Pluses

  • Familiarity with Hiero software from the Foundry
