Vortex Canada theatrically releases feature films in Canada while maximizing the monetization across all platforms; Vortex International is a worldwide sales and distribution company; Vortex Productions is an in-house production company with the resources to self-finance and produce feature films and films made for television. Vortex has amassed a library of Intellectual Property rights to over 300 properties. Primary markets in Canada consist of the major broadcasters including Bell Media, Corus Media, and CBC. Worldwide buyers include Netflix, Amazon, and Apple.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities (the company will provide production accounting related training)
- Manage the day-to-day accounting needs for productions.
- Report on all production spend in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure proper coding and recording dates for financial transactions
- Support year-end close processes related to YE T2 filing and cost audit.
- Adhere to accounting standards and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Assist the Corporate controller to coordinate audit process and reviews with Auditors.
- Perform account reconciliations on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Perform HST filing monthly
- Resolve accounting discrepancies in accurate and timely manner.
- File and maintain accounting documents and backups.
- Generate account related reports to management and other product teams when needed.
- Assist in other general accounting duties or projects as assigned by the corporate controller.
Required Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in accounting
- Minimum 3 years accounting /bookkeeping experience
- Audit supporting experience will be considered an asset
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Fast learner of new knowledge and new accounting tools
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Solid accounting and bookkeeping knowledge
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Must be completely proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks
- Result- oriented with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple tasks priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated proficiency to communicate (both verbally and written) in English
- Commitment to working in a team environment
- Willingness and ability to learn
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Based on the candidate’s experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday
