Job Description

IATSE Local 891 – (the union representing professional crews of the motion picture industry) is seeking qualified Grips.

The candidate should provide proof of a minimum of two years of related (craft/trade) work experience/education related to Grips in motion picture/theatre .

General Duties: The duties of the Grip shall include the loading, unloading, setting up and striking of the standard grip equipment including stands, flags, diffusion and counter weights, as directed by the Key Grip. This position is physically demanding and may involve standing for long periods of time, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting. This position may require the operation of power tools and may involve working at heights. On location work involves working both outdoors and indoors. Grip requirements:

  • Related work experience within the craft/trade
  • Valid Aerial Boom/Scissor Lift certificate (with practical training)
  • Valid Fall protection certificate (with practical training)
  • WHMIS 2015 certifcate
  • 3 work verification letters (reference) from current/past employer
  • Must be able to work well within a team, and perform tasks as directed by their supervisor.

Short term on-call work to start immediately in various locations within Metro Vancouver. This is the motion picture industry, expect to work a lot of overtime hours. Shift work may be required as well as weekend work.
