About the team and position

Carvana is looking for an experienced Los Angeles based editor to make content for broadcast, social and our internal channels. You will work closely with an outstanding creative team and be part of a growing Production Department. Your work will be regularly aired on national prime time television, paid social and digital media. This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced editor to work with the fastest growing retailer ever and get your work seen by a huge audience.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead editor on everything from broadcast TV commercials, to short documentaries to sizzle reels to IG stories to Tiktoks to gifs.
  • Taking ideas from rough thoughts to finished edits
  • Cutting a variety of different styles including comedy, automotive, lifestyle
  • You will be part of the creative team working hand in hand with producers, copy writers, art directors and of course solo.
  • Understanding audiences needs, motivations and aspirations to create effective, compelling, and engaging content to be delivered on all platforms
  • Juggling multiple tasks with an ability to enthusiastically pivot from project to project based on priorities.
  • Presenting and iterate within project parameters: internal goals, technical/budget/time constraints
  • Working in a collaborative editorial environment within Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Constantly learning and improving your skills

What you should know

  • 8+ years of proven work as an experienced video editor with a strong portfolio
  • Advertising experience is a must
  • Proficient in Premiere (DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator a plus)
  • Strong sense of storytelling and rhythm
  • Knows a professional post-production workflow. I.e. Preparing an edit for a professional online and sound mix
  • Proficiency in music editing and audio clean up
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Expert knowledge of archive workflows
  • Quick thinker and exceptional problem solver
  • Level-Headed, calm and functions well under pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Able to work full-time in our LA office but capable of working remotely until COVID restrictions lifted
  • Must be able to keep up with editing trends and technical advancements
