L.A. Area Casting Notice for Short Film

We are casting for a 5-minutes one-take narrative film I’m not sick. The story took inspiration from the discrimination that many Chinese immigrants faced when the pandemic broke out in Wuhan, China. Misled by the media, some anti-mask Americans associate “Chinese” and “mask” with “coronavirus”, and regard Chinese who wore masks as life-threatening virus carriers.

This is a heartrending narrative discovering the misjudgment one might have toward the other culture, following a kind-hearted Chinese girl who became a threat in the eyes of a protective American mother.

This one-take project will be a big challenge for acting but also will be an excellent portfolio piece that showcases your extradentary performance. Actors with theatrical experience preferred. Characters’ descriptions are attached below.

Fang (22-28, Chinese)
Character description: She speaks English with a subtle accent. Reserved and shy. Pure and has a good heart. Sweet neighbor’s girl type.
Actor experience: has theater experience. Adept at continuous acting in long take. Good at switching emotions in an instant.
Production info: 11/10 half day rehearsal & 11/11 full day film shoot.

Lindsay (35-50, White)
Character description: A mother who is over-protective to her kid, sometimes could be even hostile and judgemental.
