• Produces interesting, appealing, and high quality short or long-form videos for distribution on the city’s digital platforms as well as for Glendale’s TV station.
• Produces engaging social media content, to include following the style of popular trends and making that style fit a government agency.
• Shoots interviews and b-roll independently with a digital camera.
• Edits content for short of long form videos.
• Writes clear and concise copy in a conversational layman’s language style for videos.
• Completes assignments independently but will also remain an active part of a creative team and contribute to group projects.
• Gathers information for projects and ensures accuracy.
• Depending on area of assignment:

• Writes show scripts.
• Appears on camera as a city news reporter or multimedia journalist (MMJ).
• May serve as a director in their absence during meetings or events.
• Captures high-quality aerial imagery and video through skilled drone operation, ensuring stable and precise camera control, optimal settings adjustment, and smooth flight path execution to deliver visually compelling content for various projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success FactorsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcast producing, reporting, video production, photo journalism, or a related field; and one year of experience in all aspects of video production, videography, editing, or digital media content creation.Assigned specialty areas of this role may include:

• Writing show scripts
• Appearing on camera as a city news reporter or multimedia journalist (MMJ)
• Serving as a director in their absence during meetings or events
• Performing drone photography

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.Knowledge of:

• Current industry trends, quality standards and best practices in videography and video editing.
• Writing, producing, shooting, and interviewing techniques.
• Operation of digital cameras, audio recording equipment, and lighting system operation.

Ability to:

• Operate a city vehicle.
• Shoot video with a digital camera.
• Edit video content.
• Write concise and engaging copy.
• Work either individually or as part of a team.
• Continually learn and apply new skills via online training classes or self-study courses.
• Work flexible hours and occasional weekends.

Special Requirements:

• Valid Arizona driver’s license.
• This position is classified as safety-sensitive which requires candidates to successfully undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment.
