This role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced or basic camera equipment to produce captivating visual content. From high-profile productions to local campaigns, the Camera Technician ensures every shot is flawless, enabling the team to tell compelling stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Key Objectives

  • Maintain and operate camera equipment for video shoots, ensuring high production quality.
  • Troubleshoot and repair technical issues with cameras, lenses, rigs, and other equipment.
  • Set up and test equipment prior to productions, ensuring all tools meet ZDT’s operational standards.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and other crew members to ensure seamless production workflows/production plans.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest camera technologies and trends to bring innovative solutions to the team.
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of camera gear to maximize efficiency.
  • Support post-production workflows by ensuring proper media management on set.

Preferred Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of cameras, lenses, lighting, and rigs (experience with RED, DJI, Arri, or Sony preferred).
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot and address technical issues that could impact production quality.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Quick thinking and adaptability to troubleshoot issues during fast-paced shoots.
  • Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with directors, producers, and other crew members.
  • Time Management: Ability to meet tight production schedules and deadlines.
  • Continuous Learning: Eagerness to stay informed about the latest technologies and techniques in media production.

Requirements

  • Experience:
  • 2+ years in camera operation or technical support for media production.
  • Familiarity with high-end camera systems (e.g., RED, DJI, Arri, Blackmagic).
  • Experience working on both studio and on-location productions.
  • Education:
  • Degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certifications in camera operation or technical repair (a plus).
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues related to cameras.
  • Familiarity with post-production workflows and file management.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment safely.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport heavy camera equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods during shoots.
  • Visual acuity for identifying technical issues and fine details in shot composition.
  • Dexterity to handle delicate equipment with precision and care.
  • Willingness to work outdoors or in varying weather conditions during on-location shoots.
