As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Manager, Operations, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of broadcast professionals.
What You’ll Do
You’ll act with integrity to:
- Utilize ENG and mirrorless camera equipment to shoot, produce and edit news style stories for television, web, and social media platforms.
- Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a politically sensitive environment.
You’ll support our collaboration as you:
- Work in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-orientated environment, while developing engaging video content to entertain and inform.
- Support production staff with pre-production, shooting, editing and/or conducting interviews when the House is in session and complete video production when the House recesses.
- Work alongside an On-Camera Presenter/Writer/Producer to produce non-partisan content that focuses on the Legislative Assembly, what is happening at the Assembly and how the parliamentary process works.
How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your:
- A minimum of a college diploma in video recording, film, radio/television production, journalism and at least two (2) years’ experience as an ENG Operator/Editor working on daily news.
- Ability to edit video/audio using non-linear editing technology, specifically Adobe Premiere.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot ENG camera and associated technology, such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment and communication tools.
- Aptitude for telling standalone visual stories, which may require an ability to conduct interviews and make editorial decisions of visual treatments.
- Ability to leverage social media and platforms.
- Ability to be a team player, flexible and adept at fostering positive working relationships.
- Ethos of non-partisan public service in support of good governance and healthy democracy
- Enjoyment of watching political debates and keen interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs.
- Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
