POSITION: PART-TIME SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEOGRAPHER/VIDEO EDITOR (Hybrid)- CONTRACT

SALARY: $30 – $50

The role will produce dynamic, engaging video content that highlights NJCU’s vibrant campus life, academic programs, and the achievements of our faculty, staff, and alumni. The ideal candidate is experienced in capturing live events and documentary-style storytelling, producing short-form and long-form videos tailored for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and TikTok. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and Capture Content: Plan, shoot, and edit video content for campus-wide events, interviews, and storytelling projects, working closely with the Social Media Manager and collaborating with other team members from the Office of Communications & Marketing.
• Post-Production Editing:
• Assemble raw footage.
• Follow scripts or outlines to structure edits for storytelling when provided.
• Input sound effects, select music, and, when needed, add voice-overs to enhance video quality.
• Add graphic overlays, animations, and motion graphics to enhance video presentation.
• Assembling a rough cut and finalizing edits.
• Correct lighting, coloring, and address any issues with footage quality.
• Make requested revisions promptly, ensuring edits meet project standards.
• Quality Control and Storytelling: Continuously look for ways to improve footage, implementing effective storytelling techniques to create engaging content for prospective and current students.
• Communication and Teamwork: Work effectively within a team, demonstrating a strong understanding of how to meet time sensitive deadlines with urgency and manage time across multiple projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
• Experience with graphic overlays, animation, and motion graphics.
• Experience:
• 2+ years of professional experience in videography and video editing within film or a related field.
• Experience in higher education or with a university audience is a plus.
• Interpersonal Skills:
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities, fostering inclusivity and engagement.
• Strong time-management skills, with the capacity to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Availability:
• Must be available for a flexible hybrid schedule, including occasional weekends or evenings for live event coverage.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Terms and Conditions: The successful contractor shall secure and maintain in force for the term of the contract liability insurance as provided herein. The successful contractor shall provide New Jersey City University with current certificates of insurance for all coverage and renewals thereof which must contain the provision that the insurance provided in the certificate shall not be cancelled for any reason except after thirty days written notice to New Jersey City University, Procurement Services Department.
