SUMMARY:The Camera Operator will be skilled at shooting action footage from fixed and moving positions. It is also important that they understand the rules and execution of the sports they are shooting so they can match their shots to the action. They need to be able to anticipate what is coming next and be ready at a moment’s notice to respond to a director’s call.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Composes and frames shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses and camera settings to achieve as instructed by the Director
  • Adjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure and lighting as requested by the Director
  • Sets up cameras and related equipment
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to operate high-end cameras and equipment
  • Experience in sports media, preferably in television production, or involvement with collegiate TV station
  • Easily adaptable to change and executing quick instruction
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Strong overall knowledge of multiple sports
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computing equipment
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud on event days
