Recognised Education campus delivering courses in Games, Film, Animation & VFX

Looking for an enthusiastic Filmmaking Trainer to teach a Certificate III level course in the Australian VET sector. This introductory course is designed for aspiring young filmmakers in their early teens and focuses on practical, hands-on learning with additional VFX elements. This is a Casual position.

The successful applicant will:

  • Deliver engaging training to young students (late teens) in an introductory film course.
  • Provide instruction in filmmaking pre-production, production and postproduction to young filmmakers.
  • Guide students through film production projects and practical exercises
  • Conduct student assessments
  • Provide instruction on basic VFX principles
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (required) can help you obtain this after commencing
  • Demonstrated experience as a trainer, preferably in film education for younger students
  • Professional film industry experience
  • Proficiency with film equipment, including lights, cameras, and digital audio gear
  • Strong editing skills and ability to train students in editing software
  • Knowledge of visual effects and 3D software
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • a team-oriented attitude and industry experience are essential.

The successful applicant will be working within a supportive and highly skilled team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the course content for the Certificate III I Film Production using a combination of practical sessions and lectures.
  • Planning and development of sessions plans.
  • Contributing feedback on course resources and participating in moderation and validation.
  • Advising, mentoring and assisting students on both creative, technical issues and on project work.
  • Monitoring student progress including attendance, coursework, informal and formal assessment.
  • Evaluating and providing feedback on student course work in both practical and theory exercises.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Problem solving skills essential
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Detailed, practical, up-to-date knowledge of film and television production.
  • Producing experience or skills highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience or qualifications working in various roles in the film and television industry.
  • Proven ability to keep knowledge current with industry standards and further own learning as required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • We require the trainer to have, or we will work with you to complete, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116.
  • Expertise with video editing software.
  • BONUS – Experience working with virtual production
