Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Photpgrapher and Videographer for the Forestry Administration at Oregon State University (OSU).

The College’s marketing and communications team is looking for a talented and creative person who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled in the art of visual storytelling. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, responsive, and committed to hitting their deadlines. You do not need to be a forestry student or have in-depth science knowledge to succeed in this role.

In this position, you will capture digital assets through photography and videography and gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications. You will be involved with content creation for a wide range of topics, including:
  • College of Forestry student activities
  • Faculty and student profiles
  • Academic programs
  • College news
  • Groundbreaking research in sustainable forestry and ecosystems, resilient economies, and thriving communities
  • The College’s work to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and justice for students and faculty
  • Events, scholarships and other topics that will engage readers while demonstrating the impact of the College of Forestry

Position Duties
  • Providing digital asset management tasks, including responsibility for securing and tracking model releases
  • Capturing photography and videography for digital content & storytelling
  • Editing video and photo content in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Attending College of Forestry events to capture visual assets
  • Collaborate with other student workers to develop social content, serving as back-up social media content developer
  • Support College of Forestry merch store and inventory management
  • Additional activities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong smartphone photography/videography skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite and Canva
  • Experience with editing videos
  • Confidence to reach out directly to students/faculty and arrange in-person videos/photos
  • Ability to take direction and complete assignments on deadline

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Interest in fine arts, public relations, communications or related fields
  • Driver’s license
  • Experience with DSLR cameras

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
You will gain valuable experience you can add to your resume. You will work primarily in the College of Forestry marketing and communications suite in the Peavy Forest Science Center and potentially work collaboratively with other student workers. This role will also include occasional off-campus work at school events and the OSU Research Forests.
