Job Description:
The Kokomo Post is seeking a talented and versatile part-time photographer with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and a passion for capturing Kokomo’s vibrant community. This role will involve photographing slice-of-life galleries, sports events, and assisting with videography projects. We need someone who can consistently deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines and has a solid understanding of sports photography, ensuring that key moments and action shots are perfectly captured.

Key Responsibilities:

• Capture engaging slice-of-life photo galleries that reflect the unique character of Kokomo’s people and events.
• Photograph local sports events, with a keen eye for action shots, scoring plays, and pivotal moments.
• Assist with videography projects, including shooting and editing video content for The Kokomo Post’s blog and social media channels.
• Collaborate with editors and writers to ensure visuals complement written content, with a focus on accuracy and storytelling.
• Manage, organize, and promptly deliver edited photos and videos, ensuring all deadlines are met, often with same-day or next-day turnaround.
• Attend editorial meetings to discuss upcoming assignments and coordinate scheduling.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in photography, particularly in lifestyle or sports photography.
• A solid understanding of different sports, rules, and game flow to effectively capture critical moments.
• Experience with videography and editing software.
• Strong photo editing and retouching skills for digital publication.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines.
• Reliable transportation to travel to events and assignments around Kokomo.
• Flexible schedule with availability for nights and weekends.
• A creative eye for detail and the ability to tell a story through visuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with online media, blogs, or social media platforms.
• Knowledge of social media trends and how to create visuals that engage audiences on Instagram, Facebook, and similar platforms.
