General Description
The student videographer’s primary responsibility is to capture the full range of campus life at the University of Montevallo through clear, compelling videography and audio. The video could be used on the University’s website, across various social media channels and in digital campaigns.

Applicants are required to provide a URL to a portfolio of their videography work.

Essential Job Duties
  • Films a variety of events, including athletic games, fine arts performances, gallery openings, award presentations, student life events, etc.
  • Captures audio through shotgun or lavalier microphones while filming at events.
  • Films campus buildings, changing seasons and other details to maintain a stock video library.
  • Follows the procedure for renaming, key wording and filing images in the digital asset archive.
  • Assists University videographer at events, marketing photoshoots and in the studio.
  • Possesses a cooperative attitude and willingness to take direction and feedback.
  • Communicates quickly and efficiently through text and email.
  • Flexibility to work between classes with availability on nights and weekends.
  • Arrives on time for work in the office and at assigned events.
  • Dresses appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment. Please note that some events might require a more specific dress code.
  • Represents the University of Montevallo with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with video equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, etc. Knowledge of Canon cameras a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe Software including Premiere a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable and responsible with an ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mentality.

Preferred Major
Mass Communication or related field.
