Job Summary:

Position Summary

This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work 2-3 days onsite at a Company designated location and occasionally from home.

As an Associate VFX Editor you will assist with daily tasks and editorial work as requested by a Lead or Senior VFX Editor on feature or episodic projects. 

You will ideally have 2 years experience as an assistant editor in a Production and VFX facility environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain client cut with latest changes from client editorial and internal versions from multiple artist disciplines

  • Assist in preparing sequences for client review on a regular basis

  • Assist in QC and ingesting plates, consolidated media and on-set reference material provided by clients and scan facility

  • QC Editorial client deliverables and prepare avid media for upload 

  • Maintain the in-house editorial database tracking render lengths and adjusting cut lengths according to client updates for assigned show(s)

  • Output sequence movie files, AIFF audio files, and EDLs for CG as specified by Production

  • Assist with show wrap-up duties including various archiving tasks and editing finals and awards reels.

  • Provide line-up information for retimes and/or post-moves to artists and supervisors.

  • Import consolidated media from client

  • Perform special projects under the supervision of the Lead Editor, Production Manager or VFX Supervisor, including show, bidding reels or  providing  visual reference for production

What We’re Looking For

  • 1+ year of experience with Avid Media/Film Composer or other non-linear editing software

  • A self starter who independently, collaborative and maintains positive relationships within ILM Vancouver, as well as global teams

  • Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working under tight schedules

  • An effective communicator, adept at working with a diverse group of colleagues

  • Understanding of editorial materials and workflows (e.g., formats, codecs, transcoding, exporting etc)

  • Previous experience with editorial databases

  • Nice to have:

    • 1 year VFX experience (e.g., basic understanding of a VFX pipeline and team structure)

    • Knowledge of editorial materials and workflows (e.g., formats, codecs, transcoding, exporting etc)

    • Adobe Premiere Pro experience

    • DaVinci Resolve

    • Microsoft Excel

    • Shotgrid experience

    • Linux & Mac experience

 

JoinILM

The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$51,700 to C$66,200 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
