Job Summary:

To strengthen our Local Productions team based onsite in our Munich, we are looking for a:

Producer Original Productions (f/m/d)

for an anticipated period of one and a half years.

In this role you will develop and execute premium local productions for Disney+ and Star for the GSA market. This includes the screening of the Germany, Switzerland and Austrian (GSA) markets for interesting projects, the development of a strategy for local Disney+ content versus the competitors and overall ensure the execution of premium local productions.

You will be the first contact person for GSA production companies and will work intensively with the US and UK team for Original Productions.

You will take responsibility for creative tone, look and feel for multiple projects and drive the creative approach in line with the wider business strategy. Together with your line manager, our VP/Director Original Production you define the strategy of local original productions, especially in the field of high-end scripted series.

The Opportunity & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the development, execution and success of a multitude of premium scripted series for Disney + and Star for the German market

  • Come up with significant “out of the box” ideas for innovative and surprising concepts to drive business and contribute to strategic direction

  • Ensure a pipeline of new projects with all high-end production companies and also upcoming talents (writers, producers, actors and all other production related talents, i.e. Executive Producer, Showrunner, camera)

  • Support and mentor team members to build up strong knowledge on scripted high-end series

  • Build relationships with international Senior Management to ensure they buy in to proposed project ideas

  • Prepare bibles and debriefs to support the distribution of relevant information to key stakeholders and gain buy-in to strategy

  • Negotiate and manage high production budgets to ensure efficient use of available budget

  • Build strong relationships cross-department in GSA and internationally to ensure stakeholder sign-off

  • Add strongly to the creative strategy for GSA´s Original Productions and lock up interesting projects against competitors

  • Manage rounds of greenlights/approval on creative concepts within pre-set guidelines to ensure consistency with brand guidelines and wider Disney + and Hulu strategy

  • Take responsibility for effective management of own personal workload

  • Utilize research to build understanding of audience and incorporate insights into series production

The Experience We Require From You:

  • Degree in Media Studies

  • Extensive professional work experience in TV stations, high-end production companies or within an international media group

  • Profound knowledge of local and international scripted series market on TV and streaming services

  • Excellent network of contacts in the industry

  • Proven success at a management level within the creative production

  • Highly experienced in multiple complex project management and proven negotiation skills

  • Ability to inspire others and strong leadership skills

  • Strong creative opinions and confident in expressing them

  • Experienced in communicating across multiple business areas

  • Experienced in contract management

  • Very good language skills in German (spoken & written)

  • Fluent in English (written & spoken)
