Full job description

The Assistant Video Editor participates in the creation of video content for Trains.com and all Kalmbach brands. Candidates are proficient at directing, shooting, and editing video with limited guidance for use in all Kalmbach Media products. In addition, this position performs some administrative duties for posting finished videos and video products to various serves for Kalmbach websites and social media platforms. The position reports to the Executive Producer.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the creation of compelling content for Trains.com and its various e-commerce products.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in video-editing mechanics, including use of cuts, transitions, and audio tools, as well as understand pacing and continuity as it applies to storytelling and instructional videos.
  • Light, frame, and shoot video footage that is appropriate for the subject matter and audience.
  • Care for and maintain all video production gear before, during, and after use.
  • Accurately proof videos for edits, spelling, titles, and credits, as well as proof written editorial content for Trains.com, including promotional copy and articles

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • One or more years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced multimedia/video production environment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Video production, Journalism, Art, Photography, Media, Communications, or related discipline/trade.
  • Must supply a demo reel of recent work.
  • Self-sufficient, self-starter who can see projects through to the end.
