We are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Lighting/Grip Technician to join our production team. The Assistant Lighting/Grip Technician will be part of the video production team supervised by the Sr Producer. It will be their responsibility to help install all lighting and grip equipment on a production set to company lighting standards for daily video shoots. They will also be required to help maintain all lighting equipment and assist in troubleshooting as necessary. Because of the nature of studio video production, they will be required to assist in any video production or set design related work. They will assist the Senior Video Producer with any technical or artistic needs that may arise to keep the integrity of the lighting at the highest quality level possible.
Key responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Work with Senior Video Producer and video production team to install and maintain lighting and grip equipment
- Operate and maintain the lighting and grip equipment
- Work under the Senior Video Producer to operate the lighting/grip equipment during the event if needed
- Assist in Design, set up, and operate lighting for studio video production
- Uses C-stands, flags, scrims, silks, soft boxes, and other standard light equipment to add and remove light as needed to create a properly lit set for production purposes
- Work in close coordination with Senior Video Producer to achieve proper final look
- Assist the video production, set production, post-production and other departments as needed
- Work with the video production staff during strike and the return studio space back to normal
- Work with the Senior Video Producer and video production staff during setup to incorporate last minute changes
- Work with the video production team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and talent
- Ensure scripts are formatted appropriately for teleprompter use, and propose script adjustments to enhance talent delivery
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience as a video production lighting/grip technician
- Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment
- Capable of receiving and implementing feedback, proactive learning, and demonstrating self-motivation with meticulous attention to detail, combined with strong organizational abilities
- Demonstrate ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues
- Essential to collaborate effectively within a small team environment, displaying a positive attitude, and being open to learning and following directions
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as production schedules may dictate
- Be physically capable of lifting objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to operate cameras, recording equipment and teleprompter a plus
