The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is on the lookout for talented and passionate performers to take center stage in our upcoming temporary exhibit, “The Power of Poison.” This show delves into the world of poison, exploring its roles in nature, mythology, and science. As an exhibit actor, you’ll bring this captivating narrative to life, engaging visitors in an exploration of the wonders and mysteries surrounding poison.

Hiring Range: $23.00/hr

This a seasonal job with fluctuating hours:

Auditions

April 15 – June 12
Training
PT approx. 8-10 hours/week – online and in-person training
June 13 – January 5, 2025
Show Run
PT – must be available to work 3 shifts at 15-18 hours/week: Friday and Saturday or Sunday plus one weekday. Occasional Friday evening shifts as well.
Essential Duties
- Assumes an active role in creating a dynamic, visitor-focused, and inclusive experience for program participants.
- Impacts and inspires visitors/participants through skillful engagement and accomplished educational practice.
- Prepares for program delivery by ensuring content is accurate, logistics are confirmed, and set-up/break-down duties are completed.
- Prioritizes time for frequent and consistent contact with colleagues and volunteers: in person, through email, and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated passion and involvement in community/informal learning engagement preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in teaching/education or theater or performance.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age
Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have
- Strong theatrical and/or improv skills to provide an engaging and dynamic performance
- Responsiveness to the needs of diverse audiences
- Experience in theater education and working with children
- Interest in or knowledge of science and/or culture
- Demonstrated understanding of informal learning
- Ability to learn content quickly
- Excellent ability to be flexible and multi-task
- Enthusiasm for working with and engaging audiences with patience and empathy
- Familiarity with technology to enhance interactive elements
