Description

Amazon’s Bad Actor Disincentives (BAD) team works to ensure that bad actors cannot profit from using our services to abuse Customers, Selling Partners or our Store. We are looking for a highly analytical and result-oriented Business Analyst who can analyze business decisions, troubleshoot issues, and communicate the findings effectively across different teams while raising the technical bar of the globally distributed analytics team, providing data wrangling expertise, deep understanding of data fundamentals, working with and synthesizing very large datasets. You will be responsible for building a robust set of programmatic, business, and risk metrics, and then utilizing those metrics to determine improvement opportunities by working in coordination with program leaders.

This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities as well as outstanding business acumen and comfort with teams and systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

  • Create models that optimize the resources, inputs & outputs of risk operations business.
  • Reporting of key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy story lines.
  • Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will help shape the direction of the business.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
  • Ensure data accuracy by validating data for new and existing tools. Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use.
  • The ideal candidate actively seeks to understand Amazon’s core business values and initiatives, and translates those into everyday practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Operational Research, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in business intelligence or business analyst role, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology, or experience in analytics, business analysis or comparable consumer analytics solutions.
  • Strong Proficiency in and Advanced Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated experience accessing and using analytical tools (Excel, Databases, SQL ).
  • Advanced analytical skills and detail-oriented, while also seeing and understanding the big picture.
  • Passionate about preventing bad actors and stopping e-commerce fraud and abuse.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep professional experience expertise with , DMBS (redshift, postgresql, oracle, mssql)
  • Deep professional experience with enterprise reporting platforms, e.g. Quicksight/Tableau
  • Experience working in a matrix-environment with global colleagues, particularly India and USA
  • Demonstrable work experience with automating processes using a scripting language (Javascript, Python), with proven business impact
  • Past experience in fraud/abuse, e-commerce, and/or payments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
