This job is a PART TIME position (22.5 hours per week) and the £24,000 would be paid Pro Rata. It’s a 6 month contract, initially, starting on Feb 1st and is 100% based at our small Sheffield studio in S8.

Sort Of…Films Ltd is a small but very busy documentary video production company in Sheffield. Established in 2003, we specialise in short form, non-broadcast content for clients across higher education/academia/research, health, architecture, conservation and the environment and due to one particular client, video games!

Our registered office is the Electric Works in Sheffield city centre but the job listed would take place at a second location in S8 postcode – a chilled out, homely, purpose-built studio.
Responsibilities:
– Assess briefs from clients and director/producer/line manager, discuss and clarify necessary elements.
– Take receipt of, ingest and process original assets including raw footage and audio according to pre-established workflow.
– Source and process additional assets including royalty free footage, music and graphics.
– Manage established system of backups, archiving and record keeping for all assets and project files.
– Create and manage project files using Adobe Premiere, using established organisational processes and principles for bins, timelines etc.
– Edit projects according to briefs, applying critical thinking and creativity to optimise narrative coherence, pace, tone and style where necessary.
– Add visual effects, graphics, and animations using software such as Adobe After Effects.
– Edit, enhance and mix audio according to established procedures.
– Ensure all videos adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent visual style.
– Ensure accessibility requirements of all outputs are met including subtitling.
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
– Manage edit suite and hardware in collaboration with line manager as necessary to ensure a clean, efficient, safe, fully-functional and optimised work environment and edit system.
– Provide regular project progress updates and manage related spreadsheet.
– To assist in the maintenance and updating of company social media, Youtube and Vimeo pages/channels, the company website and any other pages as required.
– To occasionally perform additional reasonable, safe duties that are closely related to the successful continuing operation of the business and its growth such as marketing/promotional activities.
– To attend all necessary meetings that are specific to company projects as well as employment review meetings.
– To attend all industry-relevant training and any other training (such as health and safety).
Required Experience:
– Proven experience as a Video Editor using Adobe Premiere and related software.
Desirable Experience:
– Experience of a professional workplace such as a production company, digital agency or post-production facility.
Desirable Knoweldge:
– Strong understanding of video editing techniques, including color grading, audio editing, and motion graphics
– Familiarity with filmmaking, photography and sound principles relevant to editing including shot composition, colour settings/profiles, media filetypes, frame rates, audio processing/track management,
– Knowledge of PC hardware and connectivity – for example, external drives and cabling, graphics cards, I/O cards, networking.
– Familiarity with DropBox, Vimeo, YouTube, Social Media, Google Docs, Google Sheets.
– Familiarity with technical and filmmaking terminology.
– Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Please note that this initial period of employment may act as a springboard to a further contract and so we are keen to hear from people who might consider further employment beyond the stated end date of the contract should there be a requirement.
