Variable Data XMPie Composer

FULL DESCRIPTION:

Phoenix Lithographing Corporation, a commercial printing company, has an immediate opening for a Variable Data XMPie Composer for its Direct Mail and Digital Print Divisions, located in Philadelphia, PA.

This is a full-time position for day shift with some overtime as needed. There is growth potential for the right candidate.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the preparation and programming of data-driven print files for direct marketing and mailing products. This position works closely with Customer Service and Data Processing to translate customer specified business rules and supplied data into dynamic, data-driven, print-ready output, using XMPie. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. A complete understanding of full-color variable data printing and a high level of expertise using XMPie to compose variable data output are a must.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze project specifications, data and artwork to prepare data-driven production files
• Connect data and asset inputs using XMPie programming logic to produce personalized, print-ready output
• Generate live data proofs for customer review, as well as final files for digital printing
• Set up complex, dynamic text flow layouts to accommodate a wide range of variability and versioning
• Confirm layout is complaint with USPS postal regulations
• Work in a team environment, coordinating with Customer Service, Data Processing, and Production, at the highest level of quality and accuracy, and on schedule

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Must be proficient with XMPie, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office Suite, especially Excel
• Must possess creative thinking, good problem solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new production techniques
• Familiarity with database concepts such as queries, filtering, table creation
• Must have Direct Mail print-related knowledge with basic understanding of USPS Mail piece design guidelines, addressing and barcode regulations
• Ability to diagnose and resolve production performance issues
• Commitment to accuracy and detail
