Composer-in-Residence Job Description
As our composer-in-residence, your job will involve teaching weekly private composition lessons and weekly group composition classes to enrolled LMC students. Composition lessons/classes are supplemental and optional for students to enroll in, in addition to their primary orchestral and piano majors. In addition to these lessons and classes, the composer-in-residence will lead a 45-minute Music Theory elective class for 10-15 students four times each week. While you will be directly assigned to the students in your specialties, you will also work as part of the LMC team to provide the best experience for all of our students.
Supplementing your teaching requirements, you will have two chamber pieces performed by our instrumental faculty on our weekly Faculty Artist Series chamber concerts. These concerts are ticketed events and open to all students at LMC as well as the public. The chosen candidate must be willing to provide all parts and scores to faculty members in advance of the summer and work alongside them while at LMC, leading up to performances.
The composer-in-residence position is a one year residency.
