Job Summary

The Representative – Production Safety & Environmental Affairs supports client health, safety and environmental programs for motion picture and TV productions. This includes compliance programs to meet regulatory requirements and directing consulting efforts for the client. Overall scope includes:

Position Responsibilities

– Manage environmental, health & safety consulting service for client productions

– Evaluate production concepts, scripts, pitches, etc., for safety and environmental concerns and risks

– Mitigate safety concerns by working directly with Production Executives, Producers, Unit Production Managers and other production staff

– Work directly with the Production in the planning and execution phase of all filming assessing safety and environmental needs, securing appropriate vendors, and traveling to remote locations as required

– Attend production technical scouts and production meetings

– Develop and distribute the Production Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and other production safety and environmental guidelines

– Lead and mentor other production safety professionals in skills development and effectiveness

– Evaluate production sets, stages and locations for safety and environmental issues

– Recommend corrective actions and assists productions in implementation

– Respond to, and investigate production emergencies, incidents and accidents

– Coordinate production employee environment, health & safety training

– Drive value though improving safety culture via increased safety awareness, program improvements, and reducing injuries

– Develop and maintain effective working relationships with industry safety organizations, representatives and governmental regulatory agencies as appropriate

Education, Experience and Certifications

The following education, experience, skills and attributes are preferred for the ideal candidate:

– Ability to travel domestically and internationally

– Bachelor’s Degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, science, or relevant field

– Experience in fire/life safety, safety and environmental affairs management in a Studio Production environment

– Thorough understanding of motion picture and television production process including organizational structure, terminology, equipment, construction methods, stunt and special effects techniques, etc. preferred

– Knowledge of Federal, state and local health & safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, etc.)

– Quickly recognize and resolve various production safety issues that arise during the course of normal production activities

– Partner with risk managers, loss control executives and insurance underwriters to resolve loss prevention issues

– Determine the applicable regulations in states and countries where a particular production may be filming (possibly for the first time)

– Interact with regulatory agencies, company management, productions and studio personnel

– Team player with an ability to supervise several projects in a fast-paced environment

– Ability to respond after hours for important, timely or urgent manners

– Ability to be discreet and handle confidential information

– Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, G Drive, One Drive, MS Word, Excel, Zoom, WebEx

– Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Combination of Facilities EHS experience and TV/Film Production Safety experience is a plus
