Overview:

The Office of Communications promotes and protects Princeton Universitys reputation of excellence. With our videos, we strive to connect with our audiences using creativity and compelling, focused narratives.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Video Producer, the temporary video production assistant will be a core member of the team, with team projects, solo projects and support tasks.

Duties include:

  • Assisting team members on preproduction, production and postproduction of video projects. This may include scheduling interviews, coordinating recording releases and other permissions, booking rooms, research, packing and unpacking camera bags, transporting equipment to and from shoots, setting up equipment on video shoots, uploading and logging footage, and other tasks.
  • Filming events such as classes, lectures, ribbon-cuttings and performances and editing clips or highlight reels for media, social media and Princeton.edu.
  • Organizing and archiving footage from in-house video projects into the digital asset management system. Gathering and organizing campus b-roll, and identifying gaps in the archive.
  • Maintaining the teams inventory of video equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in video production.
  • Video production and post-production skills, including knowledge of professional equipment, filming, lighting, audio recording, audio/music mixing, color correction, editing, and compression/encoding.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully with limited supervision, working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to organize scheduling and production.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in an environment with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Must be willing to work some nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must meet requirements for lifting/handling equipment, including: Stand or walk for 2-4 hours at one time, up to 6 hours per day. Sit for fewer than 4 hours during an 8-hour day. Lift or carry up to 25 pounds frequently (34-66% of the workday) and up to 50 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the workday). Lift up to 50 pounds in a range of motion from floor to shoulder height. Push or pull with forces up to 35 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the workday). Use handsfor simple grasping, pushing, or pulling frequently (34-66% of the workday). Possess physical agility and full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance. Hold a camera and/or other relevant equipment to photograph multiple events per day. Sit at a computer for long periods of time while editing videos.
  • Ability to distinguish colors accurately and be able to color correct photos and videos.
