Software Engineer – VFX Plugins | Burbank, CA | Sphere Entertainment

Role Summary: MSG is hiring a VFX Plugins / Front-End Engineer to join a groundbreaking imaging systems department based on-site in Burbank, CA. The VFX Plugins / Front-End Engineer will play a critical role within the Capture Development Systems team, who is responsible for developing maintaining hardware and software tools for preview, capture, ingest, transcode, color science, review, QC, and final delivery. Within this scope, the engineer will work on developing internal image processing toolchains and plugins for the worlds highest quality cinematic video. You will be working closely and collaboratively with On-set, Realtime, Post-Production and Visual Effects (VFX) teams to create and maintain plugin systems and software extensions that expand and enhance the functionality of our custom content creation imaging software. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of common VFX software packages such as Nuke & Resolve, as well as real-time engines like Unreal. Knowledge of real-time and standard post-production software packages like Mistika and Maya are a plus. Specific Functions/Activities Summary: Create and maintain plugins for one or more of these systems: o OpenFX o Nuke o Unreal Engine o Resolve o Mistika o Adobe Premiere Collaborate closely with our DIT, post-production and VFX team to identify, design, implement, and maintain plugin extensions that enhance our Imaging Pipeline tools. Build automations within the software ecosystem to accelerate the flow of data throughout the pipeline Qualifications: Extensive knowledge and experience creating plugins and scripts for VFX/real-time software packages 4+ years of experience in a production or animation environment Thorough understanding of: o Plugin extension architectures o Image processing, vfx and video editing applications o Understand file formatting and data used in animation and VFX o Understanding of RAW image processing pipelines Proficient in C++ Python, and JavaScript Education: At MSG, we recognize the importance of upskilling employees talents and strengths so they can drive their careers forward.
