Based on the real-life chronicle of America’s first serial killer, Boone Helm (aka “the Kentucky cannibal”), and his last days as two determined lawmen tracked his bloody exploits across the breadth of the Wild West. 1860s American Frontier. The gritty, sprawling true story of an American outlaw. Loquacious and amiable, Boone Helm was above all the ultimate self-preservationist. When an ill- conceived foray into horse racing goes disastrously wrong, Boone and three business partners find themselves trapped by mother nature’s frozen grip in a desolate cabin high atop the Sierra Nevadas. With a human leg draped over his shoulders for sustenance and a belly full of his trail mates, only Boone Helm emerges and the legend of the Kentucky Cannibal is born.
